Les Griffons De Pichon Baron Pauillac 2012 1500ml
Forged in the legendary terroir of Château Pichon Baron, Les Griffons 2012 is a high-octane expression of Pauillac power. Named after the mythical stone guardians that stand watch over the estate’s historic courtyard, this wine is a bold, structured masterpiece crafted for those who crave the intensity and grip of world-class Cabernet. The 2012 vintage is a masterclass in balance, hitting the "sweet spot" where raw muscle meets velvet elegance. It delivers the deep, dark fruit and aristocratic sophistication expected from a historic Grand Cru Classé producer, now perfectly matured and ready to command your glass.

The equivalent of an alternative second wine from Château Pichon Baron (with Les Tourelles), Les Griffons is named after the statues of griffins that are in the chateau's courtyard. This is a structured wine, firmly tannic while already showing plenty of black currant fruitiness. Equal measures of Merlot and Cabernet balance the wine and give depth of flavor. It will develop soon and will be drinkable from 2017.

A fine red with blueberry, blackberry and spice character. Medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Pure cabernet sauvignon. Stylish wine for the vintage. Drink in 2017.

Drink: 2015-2025
A wine I haven't tasted before, the 2012 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Soft, luxuriously fruity, and deep ruby/purple-colored, this is a seductive, lush, in-your-face style of Pauillac to drink over the next 7-10 years.

Tasted blind. Solid, ambitious, a tiny bit stodgy but very well-intentioned. Sweet. Quite a fresh finish.
