Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006 – A magnetic expression of Pinot Noir’s power and elegance, this Champagne reveals layers of dried cherry, strawberry, roasted citrus, exotic spice, cocoa, and smoky accents. With 20% still red wine in the blend, it offers remarkable intensity, silky texture, and a long, saline finish. Nearly 12 years of cellar aging have shaped it into a vibrant, gastronomic rosé—bold yet balanced, and one of the true successes of the 2006 vintage.

2006, with its 20% addition of red wine, has always been one of the most boomingly intense renditions of Dom Pérignon Rosé, and today the boldness of that blending decision stands out strikingly successfully. This is an outright festival of Pinot Noir aromatics and complexity in its middle age, explosive with dried cherry, strawberry tart and peach fruit yet beautifully layered with dried bay leaf, roasted citrus, liquorice and brown bread complexity too. What’s amazing is just how energetic this 2006 is today when so many from this vintage are tired and heavy – no doubt this rosé stands as one of the wines of the vintage.

The 2006 Dom Pérignon Rosé continues to show very well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of bitter orange, dried white flowers, red berries, toast and woodsmoke. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and muscular, with all the phenolic structure and depth that one would expect from a rosé that contains more than 20% still red wine, concluding with a sapid and chalky finish. As I wrote earlier this year, this is a vinous, gastronomic rosé that numbers among the decided successes of the 2006 vintage.

Loads of complexity on offer here, from brioche to dried peaches to strawberries and cream and on to rhubarb fool, pomegranate pastries and bread crumbs. The mousse is wonderfully integrated to the edgy peaches and notes that feather the finest line between oxidation and reduction. Very layered and linear, this is an incredibly long and mind-bending Champagne. Drink now.

Pale to mid salmon. A definite orange hue. Broad and rose-scented. Really quite extensive on the palate. Very nicely balanced. Lots of fruit and much softer than the 2008 and 2002 Blanc.

    Domperignon.com

Dom Pérignon Rosé is born to push the boundaries of creation.

It reflects a deep impulse to question everything, to embrace risk, experiment freely and to always go further. Dom Pérignon Rosé expresses this timeless desire to explore the edge, harnessing the raw power of the red of the pinot noir grape in a radiant assemblage. Tempered by a slow, masterful transformation during nearly 12 years in the cellar, Dom Pérignon Rosé is a vibrant incarnation of both light and darkness. It embodies dedication to creation as the radical exploration of new possibilities.

    2006, A magnetic elan
With Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2006, the Pinot Noir transports us with an enveloping, sustained movement: a magnetic elan.

In complete with a solar harmony decade
Overall, the weather in 2006 was warm and dry, though there were some contrasts. While a heatwave hit during July, August was unseasonably cool and damp.
September brought another wave of warm summer weather, and this saved the vintage, drying out the few places where botrytis was developing and leading to above-average fruit ripeness. Harvesting began on 11 September.

    Nose & palate
    A ripe and profound bouquet
The bouquet is mesmerising, ripe, and deep. The opening notes are a blend of dark spicy notes and cocoa which develop very quickly into fruit aromas. Fruit reigns supreme, with roasted fig and apricot and candied orange. The overall effect exudes smoky accents.

On the palate, the fullness of the wine is immediately striking.
Its intensity and succulence set the tone through the sweetness and crisp punch of the flavors.
The silky mouthfeel melts into a smooth, tight, and grainy structure with just a hint of vegetal flavors.
The wine expresses an appealing brininess and saline character.

    Food & wine pairing
Rosé Vintage 2006 demands a simple cuisine; modest, pure and authentic, a traditional cuisine from southern Europe, originating from Italy, Spain or France.

One can play on the mellow and rich textures with which the wine integrates perfectly.

Rosé Vintage 2006 responds to propensities and contrasts, dishes with strong personalities reveal the form of exuberance which characterizes the vintage.
