Petit Figeac St-Emilion 2019 1500ml

A polished and refined Saint-Émilion from the legendary Figeac estate. The 2019 Petit-Figeac opens with dark berries, walnuts, and a creamy texture, balanced by lively freshness and fine tannins. With vibrant black cherry, herbs, and a smooth, chalky finish, it's approachable now but will really shine with a few more years of rest. One to stash—or share in magnum size!

A firm and refined red with berry and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body. Creamy texture. Medium finish. Needs time to open. Try after 2025.

Blackberry notes on the nose, with some herbal perfume touches too that are so appealing. Smooth and softly textured, with chalky nuances and grippy black cherry, strawberry and blackcurrant leaf aspects giving structure and body. Succulent and juicy with mouthwatering freshness. Great vibrancy and drive with life. Super approachable with the same vein of refinement and charm that Figeac does so well.

58% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc. Second wine of Ch Figeac. Rarely shown en primeur so first time tasted.
Aromatically open and fleshy, the Merlot to the fore. Some floral notes behind. Palate round and appealing (Merlot again) then tightens to give freshness and drive, the Cabernet taking over on the finish. Caressing texture and tannins. Clean and digeste. A tiny step towards the grand vin.

Since the 1945 vintage Chateau Figeac has produced a second wine, created by Thierry Manoncourt, who was one of the first Bordeaux winegrowers to impose strict selection based on quality. Ranamed Petit-Figeac from the 2012 vintage, it has always been made solely from grapes grown on the Chateau-Figeac estate.
