Paul Jaboulet Aine Crozes-Hermitage Mule Noire 2020 750ml

The 2020 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Mule Noire is a rich, juicy Syrah with wild blackberry, meaty notes, and a smooth, creamy feel. It’s approachable now but has enough tannins and fresh minerality to keep things interesting. Perfect for cozy nights by the fire.

Full wild-blackberry aromas, plus some meaty character welcome you to the Rhone kingdom of syrah. Thanks to the open fruit, moderate tannin structure and creamy texture on the mid-palate, this is already a very appealing Crozes-Hermitage. Only at the finish are the tannins a bit more obvious, but the mineral freshness there is more forthright. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From the young vines planted at the Thalabert site, the older vines of which go into the Domaine Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage. Dark and black in the glass, hinting at the deep and brooding nature of the aromas. Bramble, black cherry and blueberry jam flavours are underpinned by dark chocolate powder and cocoa nibs. The fruit is laced with graphite and a spicy richness, finishing with a slatey touch. It's intense but comforting and a match for blustery days and log fires.

One of the best value reds in the Jaboulet range – which also includes the iconic La Chapelle, of course – this organic Syrah reflects the quality and focus of Caroline Frey’s winemaking. Scented and intense, with classic tapenade and white pepper aromas, bright, tangy, richly concentrated blackberry and blueberry fruit, subtle oak influence, smooth tannins and the concentration and freshness to mature nicely in bottle.
