Tempo D'Angelus 2021 750ml
This is a fresh, vibrant Merlot-led Bordeaux (90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc) from the Angelus team, made from estate plots just outside Saint-Émilion. You get notes of blackcurrant, cherry, chocolate, and cedar, with fine tannins and a chewy, peppery finish. Medium-bodied, approachable, and modern in style, it’s a more relaxed expression of the Angelus pedigree—refined but ready to drink soon.

Herbal edged raspberries on the nose, smells floral, lifted and softly savoury too. Clean and clear, a lovely punchy energy straight away offset by high, mouth-watering acidity. Sleek and pure, slightly tangy with red summer berries, some bitter orange elements and an undertone of salty minerality which lingers on the finish. Very likeable and easy to drink. Great tannins and hit of mint at the end. Drink straight away. Why wait.

A particular favorite of my colleague, Yohan Castaing, the 2021 Tempo d'Angélus offers up a gently reductive bouquet of plums and berries framed by a discreet patina of oak. Produced from vineyards in Castillon but declassified to generic Bordeaux for simplicity's sake, it's medium-bodied, fleshy and lively, built around tangy acids and chalky tannins.

A crunchy and pleasant red with plum, berry and cherry character. Light body and an easy finish.
Tempo-angelus.com
Tempo d’Angelus has been created as a in an alternative direction, a transposition of everything that makes up the Angelus world of excellence onto an approchable level.
Exclusively produced from vines acquired by Château Angelus in 2017 located in Castillon-la-Bataille, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Sainte-Colombe and the Francs sector, a few kilometers from Saint-Émilion, on magnificent clay-limestone slopes with high tuff rock and marl content.
These cold, deep soils together with the vineyards’ south-facing slopes have a direct bearing on the ripening process of the grapes, which display low levels of pH and high polyphenol content.
