The 2024 Château Montrose is a standout in a tricky vintage—elegant, focused, and full of character. With 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s structured yet refined, showing vibrant blackcurrant, subtle spice, and a long, balanced finish. Despite the challenges, Montrose nailed it this year.

This shows finesse and elegance as well as plenty of subtle red currant and blackcurrant character. Medium-bodied with refinement and length. Tender, vivid and pure. Extremely well done in a difficult year. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 17% merlot and 3% cabernet franc.

Vivid deep colour in the glass. High acidity as well as sweet and sour fruit make the first impression - lifted and charming this has a fun personality while being structured and long. Fine tannins support the blackcurrant and chocolate elements and I love the licks of wet stone on the finish. A little charged, somewhat unusually for the vintage, but the concentration really works. You don't get the impression they struggled at all. Great texture and balance. Very impressive. Optical sorting. A yield of 38hl/ha. 45% grand vin production up from 41% normally. 13% press wine. Ageing 60% new oak for 18 months.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Montrose is a serious, muscular effort that numbers among the wines of the vintage. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, burning embers, cigar wrapper and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a lively spine of acidity, rich structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish. With both the highest proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon recorded at Montrose and a rather low pH of 3.55, it will surely number among the longest lived 2024 Bordeaux.
Montrose was one of the terroirs favored by the 2024 vintage, experiencing comparatively good weather at flowering and at least a moderate hydric constraint at veraison. Viticulture was adapted to conditions, with deleafing a month earlier than usual, retention of cover crops for as long as possible and hedging canopies higher to boost ripening. Two green harvests, one on July 20 and another at the end of veraison, brought more homogenous maturity. Harvest took place between 23 September and 7 October.

* Original wooden cases (OWC) will only be guaranteed for orders of 6 or 12 bottles (or increments of 6 or 12) for each individual label.
* All 2024 En Primeur prices are quoted in Singapore Dollars (ex-cellar in Bordeaux), excluding freight, insurance, alcohol duty & goods and services tax (GST).
* Delivery of wines will occur in approximately second/third quarter of 2027, when the bottled wines are released. Customers will be notified of approximate delivery date 2 months in advance. Wines will be delivered to a Singapore address only.
* Prior to delivery of wines, an additional amount (approximately S$20.00 per 750ml bottle) will be invoiced to customers in order to cover shipping charges, insurance, handling and alcohol duty. GST at the prevailing rate then will also be levied on the total imported value of the wines.
* 1855 The Bottle Shop will store the wines for customers for up to 30 days from the advised delivery date. Additional storage charges will apply if customers fail to collect the wines within 30 days from the advised delivery date.
* Any shortage, damage or incorrect delivery should be reported within 24 hours upon receipt of goods.
