The bouquet shows some intense cedary oak while the palate is tightly coiled, intense, wonderfully concentrated, with a fine line of bright natural acidity on a clean finish of significant length. Like the previous vintages, the 2013 is unevolved at present, needing time to open up and show its complexity and impeccably balanced character. There is already a purity of fruit, especially grapefruit, white peach, white nectarine, tightness and power. The finish has that wonderful dry quality that is a hallmark of outstanding chardonnay, and PIERRO. It will improve with impeccable cellaring: monitor its development and enjoy the journey.
